WORLD ARCHITECTURE: THE MASTERWORKS - WILL PRYCE



What makes great architecture? The book attempts to answer this question through photographs and text exploring a variety of buildings from all over the world. It takes you on a journey celebrating fine architecture over a period of 2,000 years.
They include the well-known; Pantheon, Hagia Sophia, Gothic and Renaissance cathedrals, Islamic architecture of Isfahan and Samarkand, Guggenheim Museum and Sydney Opera House to the unfamiliar and unexpected; Hindu temple, French pilgrimage church and Santa Maria della Consolazione in Todi, Italy. More than one hundred buildings are included with commentaries accompanying the photographs to provide an extra dimension of understanding for the context in which they were created and of the evolution of architectural history.

Will Pryce is an award-winning photographer originally trained as an architect at Cambridge University and the Royal College of Art, London. His recent books are Big Shed and Brick: A World History with James W P Campbell.
